project overview

Penguin Patrol (made with unity) was created in a small group for a game design course. Penguin Patrol is a tower defense game, where players purchase structures to hold off oncoming alien armies. Structures not only provide defense but are also used to produce units. Produced units are stored until the player chooses to launch their attack wave.

One of the defining features of this project was a focus on proper documentation and process. As part of the project, we created an exhaustive Game Design Document entirely deconstructing the game experience and development.

responsibilities

On this project I took the role of game and graphic designer. Game design responsibilities were shared among all group members. In addition to these game design responsibilities I was responsible for all modeling in the game as well as most of the structure textures and interface graphics.

debrief

This project was a joy to work on. Alice (game design) and Dashan (programming) are two individuals who personify the best of their respective fields. Maintaining proper process ensured that the resulting game was as close as possible to our initial vision and exuded such character as to make it satisfying to play.
