project overview
Gameworlds is an interactive flash program that explores the structure of content within video games.

In our study of various games we determined that games were divided into several distinct categories.

We chose to display these through an interface that mimicked the first world of Super Mario Brothers 3. SMB3 was chosen specifically due to it’s paradigm shifting change to include a macro world tying specific levels together thematically and geographically.
responsibilities
Lead programmer
I acted as the main programmer for this project, creating the infrastructure as well as the world map and component interfaces.
debrief
This project provided a welcome mix of academic research and multimedia development. Having the opportunity to develop our own theory of game world structures was an interesting exercise. Developing that theory into a fully navigatable world in-and-of itself was icing on the cake.
